S-WIN as an expert voice on TV and radio | September 2025

In September 2025, timber construction in Switzerland was doubly in the media spotlight. The Swiss Wood Innovation Network (S-WIN) was featured on both television and radio broadcast by SRF – Swiss Radio and Television – to provide in-depth information about innovation, sustainability, and the future potential of building with wood.
On September 29th and 30th, 2025, S-WIN, represented by Innovation Manager Olin Bartlome, traveled to Stockholm together with an SRF team. The focus of the trip was Wood City, one of the world's most ambitious urban development projects using timber construction. Olin Bartlome was interviewed as an expert on timber construction and innovation for the science program Einstein.
The report explores what it means to live in multi-story wooden buildings, how modern fire and sound insulation concepts are implemented, and the contribution wood makes as a CO₂ storage medium to achieving the climate goals of the Paris Agreement. It was broadcast on SRF on October 30, 2025.
The dialogue continued – also on the radio. On Wednesday, November 12, 2025, Olin Bartlome was a guest on SRF radio. In conversation with Sandra Schiess, they discussed the opportunities and challenges of building with wood, experiences from large-scale projects, and the central role of research and development for a sustainable building culture.
Both formats – television and radio – impressively demonstrate the high level of public interest in timber construction and the continued importance of an objective, scientifically sound assessment of this building method. Timber construction is no longer a niche topic, but a key component for achieving tomorrow's construction and climate goals.
The media presence on SRF in September 2025 underlines S-WIN's role as a competent contact point for topics along the forest and wood value chain.
