Wood competence center with innovative strength

Kaufmann Oberholzer AG, with 150 employees, including 20 apprentices, is one of the leading woodworking companies in Eastern Switzerland. The company combines engineered timber construction, glued laminated timber construction, KaufmannKlimahaus® (Kaufmann Climate House®), stairs, windows and doors, kitchens, bathroom furniture, joinery, construction management, and CNC and industrial production across five plants in the canton of Thurgau. The expanded wood competence center in Buhwil has been fully operational since 2025. The new production hall combines automation, precision, and modern workplaces in a structure consistently geared towards wood processing.

The new building sets new standards in engineered timber construction: From raw tree trunk to ready-to-assemble building element, the material wood undergoes the entire value chain on one site. Short distances, high efficiency, and the combination of state-of-the-art technology with expert craftsmanship enable high-quality, precisely manufactured timber building elements for demanding construction projects.
