Olin Bartlomé (*1978), a trained carpenter, graduated in 2005 as a wood engineer from the Bern University of Applied Sciences for Architecture, Wood and Construction and then joined Pavatex in Fribourg and Cham as a development engineer and technology consultant. Among other things, he was involved in the development of the ‘Pavadentro’ system for room-side insulation, which received the highest award from the Federal Office for the Environment (FOEN) as part of the ‘Holz 21 Ideas Pool’ in 2006.
Olin Bartlomé has a wealth of international professional experience and contacts. In 2002-2003 he completed an Erasmus year at the Universidad Politécnica in Valencia (Spain) and for AIDIMA he investigated alternatives for the use of tropical timber. In 2004/2005 he worked as a diploma student at the Biomaterials Engineering Group of Scion (formerly Forest Research) in Rotorua (New Zealand), where he developed a natural fibre composite material. In 2008, Olin Bartlomé joined Natural Building Technologies Ltd. in Oakley (England) as Head of Engineering, where his core tasks included the development and optimisation of construction systems and consulting services for large construction sites.
From June 2009, Olin Bartlomé joined the technical department of Lignum in Zurich. At Lignum, Olin Bartlomé was primarily responsible for setting up the joint project ‘Sound insulation in timber construction’ and for the sustainability area. In addition, he worked as a consulting engineer for Switzerland Global Enterprise and supported the UNO in the areas of sustainable construction and timber. From 2011 to 2014 he was an executive member of the European Expert Group ‘Construction’ of the CEI-Bois in Brussels. In 2012 Olin Bartlomé was elected to the examination board of the Berne University of Applied Sciences for Architecture, Wood and Construction and in 2013 he was elected President of the Swiss Timber Engineers STE.
In 2015 and 2016, Olin Bartlomé headed the Technology Management department of Swiss Property AG in Zurich on an interim basis. Under the idea of lean management and digital construction, he developed together with ETHZ and his team a new type of parameterised modular construction that allows for maximum design flexibility.
Since 2017, Olin Bartlomé has been working as innovation manager for S-WIN and Lignum.
